One thing you could try to do is make a scene of photo-realistic rabbits in a field pre-morning hopping through the dew shooting each other with machine guns. Focusing on drawing the dew, the rabbit/gun proportions, the lighting from the sun and muzzle flashes and the sprays of blood, your artistic ability will increase just thinking about how the hell to do that.
Art is about the things you can't take pictures of. Try looking to the past, say 600, 700 years ago...
